Women in Tech? Why Not?!

Did you know that the very first programmer is a woman?

Yes, it was Augusta Ada Lovelace. She was considered as the first person on earth who write instruction for the very first computer in the mid 1800. If you think I made it up, you need to visit library (or google) more often. Surprised?

Katanya sih begitu....

But I don't think that all of the participant of Girls in Tech Workshop agree with that stereotype. Earlier today, puluhan wanita berkumpul di Kudo Auditorium, daerah Radio Dalam, Jakarta Selatan, untuk bersama-sama menambah skill IT lewat kelas Be A Digital Pro: Intro to Web Design yang diselenggarakan oleh Girls in Tech Indonesia

Finally! After two weeks, I finished Ashley Graham's Autobiography, 'A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty & Power Really Look Like', that I got as my 24th birthday present from my boyfriend (thanks dear <3). Final thought on this book? It's a must have & must read book for those who need some injections of body positive vibe, for those who easily feel insecure for their appearance, for those who simply adore her as a human being. Every time i turn the page and read every words from her, I feel like she's really talking to me and understand me very well. Some of her life events feel so related with my life and super duper inspiring. She's not only talking about body image issue, but she's also talking about her passion, her career, her family, and her love life. So interesting to read.

When I feel demotivated, for a lot of things, listening to the music is the best way for me to stand up again. Body Positive: When the Power of Words Meet the Power of Self-Control

"A beautiful woman has long hair"

That 'popular' view affected my life for few days after I decided to embrace my old look: short bob (kalau kata hairstylist-nya bob disconnect...funny name, huh?). It's funny how that 'popular' view could make me insecure for few days, karena sebelumnya I won't be insecure hanya karena hal seperti itu. That insecurity came after some of my closest people (one of them is my boyfriend) told me that my new haircut is too short and not suited me well. After they told me so, i felt so guilty....so disappointing at myself...meskipun seharusnya tidak perlu ada perasaan bersalah karena pada dasarnya my body is my authority, right?! Tapi that's what I feel at that time: insecure, ugly, and kinda hate myself....dan perasaan tersebut berlangsung for couple of days.

Beberapa hari kemudian, when I met my co-workers in the office, they were shocked ketika melihat penampilan baru gue...tapi, bukan kaget dalam arti yang buruk. Most of the people that I met in the office told me that I look pretty, more fresh, and younger with my new hairstyle. Dalam hitungan detik setelah mendengar feedback positif tersebut, mood gue langsung saja berubah: from insecure and sad into superb happy and glad that I actually did something right. Perasaan tersebut tentunya membawa rasa percaya diri gue, yang sempat terpuruk, menuju langit ke tujuh dan in a second, that 'popular' view didnt mean anything for me at all.

#InternLyfe at Unilever Indonesia

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you don't stop - Confucius

I live with that quotes for the last 5 years. It reminds me to make peace with failure and to keep moving on....just keep swimming, dory said. At first, I thought accepting the offer to work as intern in Unilever Indonesia was a step back. I mean....when almost everyone that I know already got a job as staff, I work as intern! But thanks to that quote, I gained my confidence and never regret the decision I made to work as intern in the biggest FMCG in Indonesia.

HR Indonesia Team with Unilever CHRO, Leena Nair

Before telling you about my #internlyfe in Unilever, let me start with the story on how did I become intern for Unilever Indonesia.

Not His Story: Powerful Women, Unite!

".....when we grow up, we may think that we're the only person with the problem we face and no one can help us but ours. But the truth is, to find the answer on our problem, we have to meet other people and seek for solution from their experience..."

Satu pesan yang cukup melekat diingatan gue terkait dengan love life adalah, 'find someone that going to be 'on' because of your ambition...if he's going to be, then he's the one'.

Being A Plus-Size Women: What Hold You Back?

'Diet_sehatlangsing started following you'
'dr_peninggi_pelangsing_no_1 started following you'
'solusiperutbun.cit started following you '

Probably because i have big body, they see me as  a potential customer. Atau dalam kata lain, they became my followers because they have the stereotype that girls like me, who have big body, want to have skinnier body. Annoying?

one of my favorite photo-shoot session on ANTM when they talked about how stereotype 'eat' them all.

Sebelum membahas lebih lanjut, i think it's important to understand what's stereotype.
